The Arracan Veterans' Association website has been designed as a tribute to the soldiers and families that have served with this battery. We have always prided ourselves on being a family and so we are not just here for the soldier, but also for their families too. We have created the Wives Club in the Forum and encourage wives, widows, partners and children to join. Click HERE to join in. We can also create a kids clubs or whatever you want.

In November we enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Yorkshire with the Battery and presented Gnr Andrew Raisbeck with the Arracan Veterans' Association Trophy for Best New Gunner. We enjoyed an Open Day, where we learned about the "modern" battery and had a great night realising that there is no difference between this battery and the one we all belonged to. Redneck Spirit is alive and well.

Remembrance Sunday saw a little bit of Redneck history. Wreaths bearing out name were laid in 3 different places... In Sunderland, laid by the BSM 88, WO2 Stephen "Paddy" Prout; in Thirsk; and at the Hartshead Moor services on the M62 near Huddersfield where two Rednecks, Terry Griffin and Jezz Godden, were murdered by the IRA in 1974, which was laid by the Wood family, Chris, Jeanette and Ben.

The next thing we are looking forward to as an Association is Arracan Day at the National Memorial Arboretum on the last weekend in March 2010

All we need to make this a successful group is you. If you meet a mate on the street, tell us. We want to know. If you play golf with a Redneck, insult his follow through here... We want to know. If you are trying to find an old mate. Ask us, because we want to help. I've see and heard of great acts of comeraderie from Rednecks since they've been out of the army and it's humbling.

Two years ago we had our first Redneck Reunion. One day we will have a massive Redneck BBQ with wives, kids, girlfriends, boyfriends and pets if necessary. But to make that happen, you have to join.

Regards

Taff Fitzgerald
