4th Regiment Reunion - Topcliffe
I am pleased to announce that the RSM has confirmed the date for a Reunion hosted by the Regiment to be held on Saturday the 7th July 2012 in Topcliffe. In outline the thoughts are that the reunion will be hosted the in the Warrant Officers and Sergeants’ Mess. Arrival would be from 1200hrs – 1700hrs and a tour of the Gun Batteries/equipment/History rooms can be arranged throughout the afternoon.
Dinner would be back in the Mess from 1700hrs, followed by the evening function at approx 1900hrs. The evening function would be casual, but along the lines of the event held in the Victory Club. The RSM is open to suggestions but cheap beer, buffet in the evening (around 2300hrs) and entertainment (Band, money tree, raffle etc) will be on the agenda!
Sunday would be a late Brunch followed by a Falklands Remembrance Service and then dispersal. The cost of the function will hopefully be minimal. There may be accommodation (TBC subject to numbers) in the training wing or gym, but very basic (large gym/classrooms with camp beds setup, doss bag required etc.) and capacity for caravans etc to be brought onto camp.
Accommodation will be free, as will the venue, very cheap beer (Current Mess price - £1.20 a pint!) Lunch, Dinner and Brunch will be Pay as You Dine (Approx £2 - £3) per meal. The only foreseen costs are for the evening entertainment and the buffet which will have to sub-contract out. (The RSM will make it an official function which will negate most of the staff costs, waiters, chefs etc)
Dependant on numbers it’s hoped to keep the cost to under £25 per head but that is negotiable depending on the quality of buffet and entertainment.
The Regiment will probably ask for a cheque to accompany the return but if they are flush on the day the RSM will look to off-set the meal costs but again it is subject to what us Veterans think is reasonable to pay. It is early days but they hope to make this a fantastic reunion for all the ex members, wives, families and current serving members of the Regiment. The RSM sends his regards to everybody and is looking forward to meeting as many as possible on 7th July.
